Hadejia emirate dethrones titleholder over illicit drugs

Hadejia emirate council has dethroned Alhaji Abubakar Hussain Abubakar as Dan Lawan of Hadejia over alleged involvement in hard and illicit drugs.

This is contained in a statement signed by the Hadejia emirate council’s secretary, Alhaji Muhammad Baffale Abbas.

According to the statement, the council made the decision when it received a letter from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) alleging that the dethroned titleholder has been involved in illicit drugs.

The council’s secretary said the traditional leader refused to make himself available when the emirate council sent him a summon letter to defend himself on the allegations.

He said as a result of that, the council made a decision of his dethronement after seeking the views of different people, especially those that are always with him.

The council’s secretary said the decision was made for others with the same act to desist or face the wrath of the emirate’s law.

No immediate reaction from the dethroned title holder as at the time of filing this report yester night.
