A group of Civil Society Organisations representing the 774 Local Governments across Nigeria, has called on security agencies to leave no stone unturned in their investigation against Bashir Hadejia, a suspect implicated in treason, gun-running, and other transnational crimes.

Hadejia was reportedly arrested on Monday.

The group, in a statement by its National Coordinator, Mansur Abubakar, said the truth must be uncovered, and the full weight of the law must be applied.

The statement said: “We will follow this case closely, with unwavering commitment, until justice is served.

“Let it be clear: no one is above the law. Regardless of one’s position or influence, accountability must prevail.

“Our nation’s security and the trust of our people depend on it. Together, we must ensure that those who breach our national trust face the consequences.”

The group viewed the arrest of individuals such as Hadejiya as not only protecting the country’s borders but also underscoring the importance of vigilance in combating increasingly sophisticated networks of crime and terrorism.
