Several activities were held during the week-long event such as football matches, traditional durbar, launching of the association’s maiden magazine, dedication of five boreholes and the association’s bus, traditional dances, paper presentation and turbaning of 12 personalities bestowed with different titles.
A paper titled: “Proffering Solutions to the Lingering Conflicts between Hausa/Fulani Herdsmen and various Communities in Nigeria,” was delivered by a political science lecturer at the university, Malam Muhammad Maikwato.
The don proffered solutions to the lingering hostility between herdsmen and other communities in the country.
According to him, the nomadic nature of Fulani should be replaced with a permanent abode through the provision of schools, hospitals and markets within their settlements so that they can be prevented from moving from one place to another.
The need for the Fulani and herdsmen to be tolerant and accommodating with one another was also emphasised by the presenter.
Some personalities were turbaned with traditional titles at the occasion. They included Malam Abdulkarim Abdullahi as Garkuwan HAFSAN; Hajiya Mairo Tanko Al-Makura, Gimbiya; Comrade Jude Imagwe, Sarkin Samari and Hajiya Hadiza Yusuf Agabi Sarauniya.
Others were Ishaq Ahmed Kana as Marafa; Professor E.S. Dandaura, Magatakarda; Comrade Abdullahi Abubakar, Sarkin Yaki; Musa Abdullahi (Dangote) Jarma; Alhaji Lawal Muhammad Abdullahi, Jagaba; Comrade Buhari Suleiman, Dan Amar; John Micheal Abba, Dan Maliki and Alhaji Adamu Zubairu as Talban HAFSAN.
