Hafsat Shehu’s matrimonial scandal recently featured in the media when she granted an interview to a Kaduna-based FM station and Kannywood magazine indicating that her marriage to Jamil has since been dissolved. “We want to use this opportunity to tell the world that Hafsat Shehu is still married to Alhaji Muhammad Jamil”, the associates said in a statement made available to Sunday Trust.

The actress’ second marriage developed problems early last year, less than five months after it was contracted. She was first married to late Kannywood actor, Ahmed S. Nuhu, who died in an auto crash. The actress’ marital problem became public after she left her matrimonial home in Abuja when she got wind husband would take a second wife. She has since been leaving in her family’s residence in Kano. She eventually dragged her husband to an Abuja court.

The husband’s associate however, said “As far as we are concerned, Hafsat Shehu is still married to Alhaji Muhammad Jamil. We don’t know where she came about that divorce issue. What we know is that she is still married to Alhaji Jamil and he didn’t divorce her at any given time. All we know is that she has taken him to court, seeking divorce after he took a second wife.

“The case is still pending before the court of law. Her first counsel has withdrawn from the case. She brought another one. We have been representing Alhaji Jamil in court all this while but neither Hafsat nor her counsel is even attending the court session. This is more surprising because they are the appellant. The divorce claim came as a shock to us,” they said.
