Nigerians pilgrims to this year’s hajj are to pay N38, 000 for the hadaya (sacrificial ram) fees.

This was part of the reforms of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) for hitch-free operations during the 2017 Hajj.

The State Pilgrims’ Welfare Boards, Commissions and Agencies are to collect the sums and remit same to the designated accounts of Jaiz Bank Plc which is the appointed bank for the collection of the amounts for the holy rite of Hajj.

A statement by the commission’s spokesman Uba Mana said the commission has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the bank to ensure that all intending pilgrims achieve Hajj Mabrur by entrusting the important Hajj rite to a trustworthy agent.

“At a brief ceremony held at the NAHCON, the Commissioner Policy, Personnel Management and Finance (PPMF), Alhaji Ibrahim Yusuf Adebayo who stood in for the Chairman of the commission expressed hope that the bank will discharge the assignment with the fear of Allah and great sense of responsibility.

“Alhaji Adebayo further explained that all state boards are to collect the Hadaya fees from intending pilgrims along with the 2017 Hajj fare. Pilgrims who wish to perform other forms of Hajj that do not require sacrificing animals need not pay,” Mana said.

The Managing Director of the bank Mallam Hassan Usman assured of the bank’s preparedness to carry out the responsibility with commitment and fear of Allah as it has done in the past two years, noting that they will not disappoint the commission and the Muslim ummah.
