Chairman, National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Barrister Abdullahi Mukhtar has commended Kaduna state Pilgrims Welfare Board for not compromising standard, quality and hygiene environment in feeding the state’s pilgrims during the 2018 hajj exercise.
The chairman gave the commendation during his visit to Kaduna pilgrims at Muna camp, an outskirts of Makkah, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia expressed happiness over the magnanimity of Kaduna state pilgrims board for not offering preferential treatment for top officials from the state.
“I was surprised that there was no VIP at Muna camp, because even the Secretary of the State Government, Alhaji Balarabe Abbas who is the leader of Kaduna contingent, was sleeping on a similar mattress with the state pilgrims and he eats the same food with everyone”, he said.
The chairman, however, admonished the pilgrims to pray for the administrations of President Muhammad Buhari and Governor Nasir El-Rufa’i respectively.
On his part, the ambassador of Nigeria to Saudi Arabia, Justice Isa Dodo commended Kaduna pilgrims for abiding by the rules of Saudi Arabia during their stay in the country, saying so far, no any Nigerian pilgrim was reported violating the rules of the Holy Land.
He however, lamented the issues of cattle rustling in Nigeria and drug abuse among the youths, admonishing the pilgrims to keep praying for lasting solution of the menace.
Also in his remarks, the head of Establishment of African non-Arab Countries, Dr. Abdulrahman Bare said the good conduct of Nigerian pilgrims in the Holy Land corroborates the notion that “Nigeria is the giant of Africa.”
