Hajj: Gombe gov approves N500,000 subsidy for intending pilgrims

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya

Gombe State governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, yesterday approved N500,000 as subsidy for each of the 1,273 intending Muslim Pilgrims from the state for the upcoming Hajj exercise.

His spokesman, Ismaila Uba Misilli, in a statement said the decision was in response to the adjustments to the 2024 Hajj fare by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).

According to him, the approval is to mitigate the financial strain on intending pilgrims from the state in the face of current economic challenges.

“Governor Yahaya hopes that this intervention will contribute to a seamless and spiritually enriching Hajj exercise for all pilgrims from Gombe State, as well as facilitate a conducive environment for religious activities despite prevailing economic challenges,” the statement said.
