Ahead of the 2019 Hajj exercise, intending Lagos State Muslim pilgrims suffering from one illness or the other should not entertain fear of disqualification as a result of their sickness, the Chairman of the Muslim Pilgrims’ Welfare Board, Dr. Tajudeen Yusuf has said.

He said pilgrims should not see any health challenge as a death sentence but they should be open about it to the board for proper treatment and monitoring.

He spoke during the inaugural sensitization lecture of the board in Lagos even as the board said it has commenced Biometric Capturing of intending pilgrims traveling with the board.

The Public Relations Officer of the board, Jamiu Dosunmu quoted the chairman in a statement made available to our correspondent on Thursday.

The Chairman was quoted as reiterating that health challenges will not in any way stop intending pilgrims from performing hajj but it would provide opportunity to treat and monitor the discovered ailments.

Meanwhile, the Biometric Data Capturing commenced on Tuesday at Ves Tasheel Sky Water Tower in Ikeja Lagos beginning with intending pilgrims from Agege who have completed their payments.

The Executive Secretary of the board, Mr. Ishola Rahman urged intending pilgrims to visit the data capturing centre with their two passport photographs and original copy of their International Passport otherwise they won’t get attention of the officials.
