Achraf Hakimi is set to go on trial for alleged rape in France.
The case stems from a 2023 allegation against the Morocco and Paris Saint-Germain defender.
A woman accused the Spanish-born defender of raping her at his home in the Paris when she was aged 24.
Hakimi, however, denied the allegations, and a preliminary investigation was initiated March 2023 by the public prosecutor’s office in Nanterre.
Hakimi therefore disclosed that he would go on trial to prove his innocence via a post on his X profile.
“Today, a rape accusation is enough to justify a trial,” the former Real Madrid youngster started, “even though I contest it and everything proves that it is false. It is as unfair to the innocent as it is to sincere victims. I await this trial calmly, which will allow the truth to come out publicly.”
However, the 27-year-old reigning CAF African Player of the Year did not disclose a trial date, and the prosecutor’s office has also not made a date know to the public.
Hakimi joined PSG in the summer of 2021 and has made 194 appearances, winning the UCL title last season.
