Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton said on Monday he needed to exercise hard after losing four kilos during his recent COVID-19 infection.

Hamilton, 35, missed the penultimate season race in Bahrain after his positive test for the coronavirus but was back for the Dec. 13 season-ender in Abu Dhabi.

The Briton had earlier in the season clinched a record-equalling seventh F1 world title and is the driver with most race wins (95) in the sport.

Hamilton, who has been voted British Sports personality of the Year a second time in a BBC poll, is expected to soon renew his contract at the Mercedes team as the current deal expires at the end of the year.
