Handling Ejaculation disorders

Bello couldn’t muster the courage to tell anyone about his ejaculatory disorder for a long time. He was also ashamed to visit a health facility because of the problem.

However, it began to affect his marriage in the long run and he had to confide in a friend who recommended a popular herbal medicine practitioner for him. He bought the herbs but it didn’t work.

When he fell seriously ill with another ailment he was rushed to the hospital and during his admission, he opened up to a doctor who referred him to a specialist.

He was to discover later that he didn’t feel better initially because the underlying problem causing it was not identified and treated.

Like Bello, Sola has been experiencing depression as a result of his ejaculatory disorder. This affected his relationship with women and he had low self-esteem.

However, when he later sought help from a medical practitioner specialised in the condition, he realised that it was a treatable condition.

“I had suffered needlessly because I didn’t seek help time,” he said.

According to Gurama A. Gurama, a pharmaceutical microbiologist, at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Gombe State University, an ejaculatory disorder is the inability of a man to efficiently ejaculate semen from the penis at the moment of sexual climax.

“Ejaculatory dysfunction is the most prevalent form of male sexual dysfunction and is a common cause of male infertility as defined by Professor Muhammad Yusha’u of Bayero University, Kano,” he said.

He said the condition come with the following complications:

-Diminished sexual pleasure for you and your partner.

-Stress or anxiety about sexual performance.

-Marital or relationship problems due to an unsatisfactory sex life.

-Inability to get your partner pregnant (male infertility).

Gurama said some men cannot ejaculate, while some men ejaculate much too soon.

He said there are five basic types of ejaculatory disorders:

-The ejaculation occurs even before the penis gets hard, meaning that the ejaculation occurs before an erection. Such a man is incapable of successful intercourse because everything is over before it has even started.

-The ejaculation happens at the moment of erection. Things soon get over here as well because there is no penetration. When the penis becomes hard, ejaculation is immediate.

-The ejaculation happens a second after the penis enters the vagina. Penetration does occur, but it’s over very soon, which can be especially unpleasant for a woman who is undoubtedly disappointed.

-There is the opposite phenomenon: A man has an ejaculation, but doesn’t feel the organisms as he should. The ejaculation is there, but there’s no gratification. Female readers may find it usual, but men with this problem get no physical joy or satisfaction out of sex.

-And lastly, a man can have sex for a very long time without even ejaculation, in this case, sexual satisfaction is very low.

Reasons for ejaculatory disorders

The expert said the reasons for ejaculatory disorders are mostly psychological and rarely due to malnutrition, infection, lack of exercise, taking too much fat and table sugar.  He said that some could be genetically inherited.

He said, “Primarily, ejaculatory disorders are psychological in nature. Something upstairs is not functioning well to put in a layman’s language. Men who have these problems in their relationship with the opposite sex suffer from depression, lack self-confidence and what have you.”

Why you should seek help

Gurama said to find the actual cause of the problem, which triggers off the ejaculatory disorders is not something one could embark on oneself.

He said, “You need the assistance of a psychotherapist, sexual clinical/therapist or a nutritionist. The cause can range from complex to simple issues like the fear of premature ejaculation.

“Where a man is so very worried that he will ‘come too early’ and disappoint himself and the lover, such fear can make him lose erection and in some cases ejaculatory disorders such as ejaculating without orgasms.”

Possible remedies to ejaculatory disorders

According to Gurama, it is natural that only an expert can help or provide solutions for ejaculatory disorders, some of which are serious psychological conditions.

The microbiologist said the partner of the man plagued by ejaculatory disorders must also come to the session because the problems may stem from emotional difficulties in their relationship.

He said, “The lack of ejaculation is definitely a more serious problem than the  so called premature ejaculation, which can be gotten rid of  through medication, nutritional counseling and exercises.”

Gurama said possible solutions are:

Dietary changes

In addition to zinc, magnesium also plays a role in your sexual health according to research.

Incorporating foods into your diet that are rich in zinc and magnesium may help increase the time it takes you to climax. Those foods include oysters, pumpkin seeds, soybeans, yogurt, spinach, wheat germ cereal, almonds, kidney beans and chickpeas.

Others are sesame seeds, beef and lamb, dark chocolate, garlic, peas and magnesium supplements among others.

Balanced diet

One has to balance his diet by correlating the 6 classes of food in the correct proportion prescribed by the World Health Organisation (WHO).  And by taking more vegetables and fruits on a daily basis with less sugars and less junk foods.

Pause-squeeze technique

The pause and squeeze technique may help treat premature ejaculation by letting arousal dwindle before the climax.

When you feel you are ready to ejaculate, stop and have you or your partner squeeze the end of your penis where the head joins the shaft.

Repeat the process as much as necessary. Eventually, you may be able to delay ejaculation without help.

Start-stop technique

Also known as orgasm control, which can help delay climax by drawing out pleasure.  Research has also shown that pelvic floor exercises and masturbating for an hour or two before sexual activity may help delay ejaculation during penetration.

Also avoiding intercourse for a period of time may seem counterintuitive, but focusing on other types of sexual activity instead of intercourse may help take the pressure off your sexual encounters.

Water

Taking much water on a daily basis helps in keeping the body hydrated as such you expect every other body activity to function very well.

Medical treatment

Any of these home remedies and natural treatments can help you manage your disorders. But if it persists, you should see your doctor to rule out any underlying cause; then explore other treatment options like the use of Anejaculation treatment drugs.
