Hardship: Cleric urges Nigerians to hold all leaders accountable

The Planter of Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) Grace of Mercy Prayer Mountain, Lagos, Prophet Sam Olu Alo, has urged Nigerians not to focus solely on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu when discussing the nation’s economic hardship, but to also recognise the roles of state governors, lawmakers, and other leaders in addressing the welfare of citizens.

Speaking during a programme tagged “Sure Mercy of David” at CAC Grace of Mercy Prayer Mountain, Adamimogo Jesus City, Lekki-Epe Expressway, Lagos, Alo said governance is a shared responsibility between the federal and state governments.

He noted that governors also receive monthly allocations from the federal government, in addition to internally generated revenue, and encouraged citizens to ask questions about how these resources are being used to complement federal efforts.

“Governance is not the responsibility of the President alone. Other leaders at state and legislative levels also have a duty to make life better for the people,” Alo said.

The cleric observed that President Tinubu “has good intentions” and is working to revive the economy, which he said has faced challenges over the years.

He also advised Nigerians to extend their scrutiny to lawmakers and political appointees, stressing that they too play important roles in alleviating hardship.

While calling on the President to appoint capable hands and monitor their performance, Alo highlighted his ministry’s empowerment initiatives. According to him, over 2,000 people have benefited from vocational training and startup support in areas such as AC repairs, hairdressing, adire production, fisheries, and door installations. Beneficiaries, he added, include people from diverse backgrounds.

Also speaking, the National Evangelism Director of the ministry, Mrs. Remi Odunsi, announced that a special vigil will hold on October 24, 2025, at the Purpose Centre in Abuja.

She said the programme, targeted at Nigerian youths, will feature revival, deliverance, and spiritual breakthroughs.

Odunsi further urged young Nigerians to participate actively in politics, starting with obtaining their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs).

“As citizens, our first office is citizenship, and one of its responsibilities is having a voice in governance. That voice begins with the PVC,” she said.
