Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq on Monday swore in the newly elected chairpersons and their deputies for the 16 local government areas of the state.

This marks the first time in seven years that the councils will be run by elected officials.

Speaking at the oath-taking ceremony at the Government House in Ilorin, Governor Abdulrazaq urged the new officials to serve the people diligently and avoid indulgence in luxury while many are facing economic difficulties.

He stressed the importance of prudent leadership, stating, “Be sensitive to the realities of the time. Don’t indulge yourselves while the people struggle to meet basic needs.”

The governor further advised the chairpersons to set achievable goals, work with the people, and focus on leaving behind positive legacies. He encouraged them to collaborate with one another to accomplish more for the state.

Hon. Femi Yusuf, chairperson of Ifelodun LGA, who spoke on behalf of his colleagues, promised that the newly elected officials would innovate and work hard for the benefit of their communities.
