The Lagos State police command has arrested 69 suspected hoodlums within one week in what it refers to as “a harvest of criminals.”

Among the suspects were 17 armed robbers, three kidnappers and 37 cultists.

 Recovered from the suspects were 13 different arms, 22 live cartridges and one expended AK 47 ammunition, include seven vehicles, knives, three battle axes, assorted charms and drugs with a street value of N3 million.

 The Commissioner of Police, Mr Imohimi Edgal, at a press conference yesterday at the Command Headquarters, Ikeja, said consequent on the sustained onslaught and deployment of more personnel to tackle the menace of kidnappings, armed robbery, cult-related activities and other forms of social vices within the state, the command recorded a modest achievement from last Monday.

  Edgal said 37 suspected cultists were picked in different locations of the state and one Edmund was arrested during a stop-and-search operation.

 When Edmund’s Toyota Picnic bus was searched, a pump action gun with five live cartridges were recovered from his gang.

 He said operatives on a tip-off also arrested one Azeez, a suspected cocaine dealer at Palm Church Street, Lagos Island, and substance suspected to be cocaine was found in his possession.

 He said also that at Patey, on the Lagos Island, a large cache of weed suspected to be Indian hemp was recovered.

 Edgal said the suspects would be charged to court after investigation.
