An Adamawa-based philanthropist and governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdulrahman Bashir Haske, has provided meals to over 5,000 students across the state as part of his Ramadan and Eid outreach programme.

The initiative, which coincided with the Eid al-Fitr celebrations, targeted students in eight tertiary institutions through a sustained daily iftar feeding programme throughout the fasting period.

Beneficiary institutions included Modibbo Adama University, Adamawa State University, Federal College of Education Yola, Adamawa State Polytechnic, College of Agriculture Ganye, and Federal Polytechnic Mubi.

The meals were distributed daily at the time of breaking fast across the campuses for the entire duration of Ramadan, offering relief to students grappling with rising living costs.

Several beneficiaries described the intervention as timely, noting that many students have faced increasing financial pressure amid prevailing economic challenges. Student leaders in some institutions have repeatedly raised concerns over the rising cost of feeding and general welfare on campuses.

Haske’s outreach also extended beyond campuses, with food packages and welfare support distributed to vulnerable households across communities in the state to support Eid celebrations.

In his Eid message, Haske expressed gratitude for the successful completion of Ramadan and urged residents to sustain the values of compassion and generosity beyond the festive period.

“The spirit of Ramadan should not end with the celebrations. We must continue to support one another, especially the less privileged in our communities,” he said.

For many of the students who benefited, however, the impact was immediate, providing daily meals during a period marked by economic strain and underscoring the role of private initiatives in complementing public support systems.
