In a sweeping show of generosity timed to the holy month of Ramadan, Abdurrahman Bashir Haske Foundation has flagged off a large-scale welfare intervention covering all 21 local government areas of Adamawa State, distributing food items, cash, and mobility support to thousands of families across the state.

The outreach, launched in Yola, includes 80,000 bags of rice and sugar, a cash donation totalling 220 million naira, 10 vehicles, and 50 motorcycles, all earmarked for selected beneficiaries as part of efforts to ease economic hardship during the Ramadan period. The intervention is estimated to reach between 40,000 and 80,000 individuals across the state.

According to the organisation, the food items distributed were 30,000 bags of 50kg rice, 20,000 bags of 25kg rice, and 30,000 bags of an additional grain variety, a distribution spread carefully structured to ensure that the less privileged in all 21 local government areas are reached without exception.

The founder described the initiative as part of the foundation’s broader tradition of returning to communities and lifting vulnerable households, stressing that the programme is not a one-time gesture but a continuing commitment to the welfare of families across multiple areas of the state.

“Coming back to our community, we wish we could do 100 times more than what we are doing today,” he said during the flag-off, adding that the foundation remains committed to supporting families wherever need is greatest.

Haske described the initiative as a personal tradition rooted in compassion and a deep sense of responsibility toward the people.

“We are here as a tradition. We do every festive season to celebrate with our loved ones, to see how we can support families. We can support families, and we are trying to support these families again,” he said.

He emphasised that the cash and items being distributed would go directly to reducing hardship at the household level, noting that meaningful change begins with practical, targeted support that reaches people where they live.

The foundation’s coordinator echoed this position, describing the intervention as timely and impactful, particularly given that many Muslim faithful observing Ramadan fasts are simultaneously navigating severe economic pressures.

Beneficiaries who spoke at the event described the gesture as one that brought genuine happiness to their homes at a moment of real hardship.

“For many families, we are very much excited about this great gesture. This is the right time. This is a crucial time, a time where almost all families are struggling. This is a very good time,” one beneficiaries said.

Another appreciated Haske’s contribution directly, saying the people who benefit most are those in the most vulnerable households, families that have few alternatives and depend heavily on community-driven support to get through difficult seasons.
