Chairman of Kuje Area Council Abdullahi Suleiman Sabo, has urged contractors handling the construction of a bridge linking Shaji-Godoji-Sabo communities in the area to intensify efforts in completing the work before the dry season sets in.
Sabo, who was speaking with newsmen shortly after he inspected the bridge on Saturday, said there was need for the contractors to speed up work and complete the bridge to enable farmers in the villages to transport their crops to Kuje market and avoid waste.
He said though the slow pace of work could be attributable to the constant rainfall now, the council expected to see the bridge completed soonest as the rains would be ceasing soon.
The chairman explained that the construction of the bridge was in collaboration with the FCT CSDP which, he said, commenced some few months ago in order to ease the hardship residents, especially farmers, face while transporting their farm produce to the market.
He urged residents of the communities along the axis to see the little burden and discomfort that would have come before completion of the bridge as temporary.
Sabo called for support of members of the communities and owners of structures that the road project may have affected, and the commitment of the company to deliver the bridge on time.
