Leaders of the Hausa community in Oyo State have declared their support for the decision of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin, to outlaw the title of Sarkin Sasa in Ibadan. 

The Olubadan had earlier declared the title as non-existent and unrecognised within Ibadanland, affirming that any traditional authority in the Sasa area falls under the jurisdiction of the Baale of Sasa land, Chief Amusa Akinade Ajani. 

Following an emergency meeting held at Sabo in Ibadan, the Hausa community aligned with Olubadan’s stance. 

Speaking on behalf of the community, the Seriki Hausa of Oyo town, Alhaji Muhammad Gali Kano Ibrahim, emphasised that no individual should parade himself as Sarkin Sasa without the approval of the Olubadan.

“It is wrong for the son of the former Sarkin Sasa to assume the title without the consent of the Olubadan. Sasa is part of Ibadan and remains under the authority of Olubadan. We fully support His Imperial Majesty’s directive,” he said. 

He called on members of the Hausa community to remain law-abiding, adding, “We must respect the laws and avoid actions that can cause division or misunderstanding.”
