Kumuyi, who was speaking recently in one of the church’s weekly programmes tagged Power Night, encourage all Christians to come out of discouragement.

According to him, “The person that has the spirit of faith would have the mind of faith, because he does not consider the things that people see and the things that he feels with him. He has been persuaded beyond the shadows of doubt that God is going to do what he said.”

Reading from 1 Samuel 17:37, he said any one that has the spirit of faith will not keep quiet, because the action and demonstration of faith has not changed. One must speak to the mountain of one’s life and also stand on the promises of God.

The cleric however observed that there are some obstacles that frustrate faith. He said one of them is self-talk, adding that most active Christians often speak discouraging words to themselves instead of speaking those of the champion like David did in his encounter with Goliath.

“Talk to the champion of financial difficulties that I have overcome,” he emphasised.

He admonished Christians to analyse their weapons and the authority they have in Christ.

He said when somebody is fighting against a child of God with a natural weapon, the child of God overcomes because the supernatural power of God is more powerful than the physical power of men.

He added that the persons having the spirit of faith do not delay or prolong their speech but they declare.

Kumuyi observed that what hinders our faith from working with those who have the same spirit of faith with ours is fear.

He therefore cautioned that if Christians allow the spirit of fear in them it would overwhelm the spirit of faith in them; making reference to 2 Timothy 1:7.

Making allusion to the word of Prophet Elisha in 2 King 7:1 & 2, he advised Christians to desist from unbelief, the spirit of the world that contrasts the spirit of faith and the spirit of slumber that also hinders people from getting their miracles.

He concluded by saying, when Satan comes to test Christians or when contrary wind blows, they should have the same confidence they had and hold on to the word of God in the spirit of faith. With this, they would see the very end of Satan.

“Your challenge is not just to be shouting the name of Jesus but to hold on to the promises of God. Even when it seems as if the answer has not come, keep on holding on to the spirit of faith. When it appears that the promises you are tying to stand on are not for you, hold on to the spirit of faith,” he advised.
