The Nasarawa State government says arrangements have been concluded to enroll no fewer than 500,000 persons into its health insurance agency by 2027.
The newly appointed Executive Secretary of the Nasarawa State Health Insurance Agency (NASHIA), Dr Yahaya Bawa-Ubam, revealed this while interacting with journalists in Lafia, the state capital.
Bawa-Ubam explained that over 218,000 people have enrolled on the scheme and are benefitting from quality out-of-pocket healthcare services.
He, however, maintained that the beneficiaries registered under different packages such as public sector, informal sector, vulnerable and students, among others.

According to him, since the inauguration of the programme in 2019, enrollees have been enjoying medical services with few challenges.
He reiterated that the agency would continue to strive towards achieving universal health coverage and appealed to the media to propagate the scheme’s activities.
