The award according to him was meant to encourage hospitals to reduce the time patients wait for services at GOPDs.

Oshetimehin disclosed this during the formal hand over of SERVICOM’s GOPD’s Pilot and roll-out summit in Abuja.

He said modalities would be worked out by the federal government to see how states and local governments’ health institutions could benefit from the GOPD roll -out, adding that his wish was to see hospitals’ waiting time reduced across the country.

“There will be quarterly review of hospitals activities as it relates to GOPD roll-out in order to see how far hospitals across the country have gone in the implementation,” he declared.

Also Speaking, Mr Ad’obe Obe, SERVICOM’s national coordinator, said he was excited with the first SERVICOM’s pilot roll-out.

He said the pilot service improvement process was aimed at looking for areas that could be improved upon in government services so that a manual could be developed for other government services. The coordinator explained that the GOPD pilot was done in the Keffi Medical Centre, of which other hospitals now use the findings to improve on their services.
