Chairman of the Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria, Sokoto State chapter, Abdullahi Aliyu has expressed displeasure over the attitude of health workers, particularly principals officers who shun their duty post.
He stated this when he paid an unscheduled visit to some of the Primary Healthcare Centres (PHC) and dispensaries in Tambuwal, Shagari and Yabo local government areas of the state.
He discovered during the visit that many of the workers were not on their duty post, the situation which he described as condemnable and unethical.
He called on directors of health in all the 23 local government areas to ensure strict monitoring of their staff. While threatening to take disciplinary action against erring members, he promised to reward hard work and punctuality to work. He also pleaded with Tambuwal Local Government area to pay the May,2015 salary arrears of their junior staff.
