Kano state commissioner for Health, Dr Kabiru Ibrahim Getso has called on the Primary Health Care Coordinators (PHC) in the 44 local government areas of the state to be more committed toward improving healthcare services at the community level.

Dr Getso made the call while declaring open a one day orientation workshop on the strategy for integrating Free Maternal & Child Healthcare (FMCH) services into Drugs Revolving Fund (DRF) scheme for local government PHC Coordinators, held in Kaduna state.

According to a statement from the ministry, signed by its Public Relations Officer, Isma’il Garba Gwammaja, the commissioner also charged the coordinators to utilize the scheme for maximum benefit of the teeming populace of the state.

He also enjoined the public to always patronize government health facilities and the DRF drugs at the facilities saying “they are more qualitative, safer and cheaper.”

Dr Getso further reiterated the commitment of the Ganduje led administration emphasizing that “the present administration has given the health sector priority it deserves by renovating and upgrading more than 130 health facilities within two years, purchases state-of-the-art medical equipment, provision of drugs worth over N4bn.’’

He urged the PHC Coordinators and all other healthcare workers in the state to reciprocate the gesture through commitment to their assigned responsibilities.

Responding, the Executive Secretary, Kano State Primary Health Care Management Board, Dr Mohammed Nasir Mahmoud, commended Kano state government for championing the course of revitalizing primary health care services in the state.
