Hearing will continue on November 14, 2018 at the Ejigbo chief magistrate court, Lagos, in a case of theft against a 22-year-old deaf and dumb suspect,  Daniel Olise.

The police alleged that Olise, with others said to be still at large, stormed a plaza near the Oba’s palace, Ijegun, Lagos, and carted away a water tank belonging to one Uneh John.

The police explained they were able to arrest the suspect because of his condition, which made him not to know when other members of his gang escaped.

The accused is being tried on a three-count charge of conduct likely to cause breach of peace, conspiracy and stealing

In court last week, Olise signalled that he was deaf and dumb and cannot hear and talk, but indicated he could read and write.

The court directed the prosecutor to give the accused the charge sheet to read and make his plea. Olise collected the document, and after reading it,  signalled that he was not guilty.

The presiding magistrate, Mr T.O. Shomade, holding brief for Mr L.K.J. Layeni, granted Olise bail in the sum of N100,000, with two sureties in like sum.

He remanded the accused in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail conditions and adjourned the case till November 14, 2018.
