The first leg of the competition’s semi-final tie played last weekend saw the Owerri side running away with a 4-0 victory at the Dan Anyam Stadium.

However, Imo State governor, Chief Ikedi Ohakim escaped mob attack at the match venue, just as scores of supporters of the visiting Heartland FC sustained various degrees of injuries at Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano.

Heartland consolidated their final position with 1-0 victory through a goal in the 87th minute by Uche Agba.

Provoked by the 5-1 gestures of Imo State governor, Chief Ikedi Ohakim, when he entered the Sani Abacha Stadium to watch the match, the aggrieved fans of Kano Pillars threw all manner of things to his direction.

Wearing a long-sleeve shirt, dark trousers and dark goggles, the elated governor started waving to the Pillars’ fans, gesturing that his team would beat Kano Pillars 5-1 in the second-leg of the semi-final tie of the ongoing African Champions League. Despite the heavy security deployed at the stadium, our correspondent observed that the youths kept on throwing items to his direction.

Our corresdpo0ndent observed that despite his persistent evasion, a sachet of table water, popularly called pure water hit the governor.

Observing the tense situation at the stadium, the security personnel hurriedly ushered him to a seat.

Security men were however increased around the governor, who now calmly watched the game without harassment.

Midway into the second stanza of the encounter, the Pillars fans who were now aggrieved with the goalless situation of match, chased Heartland supporters away from their seats, forcing the Algerian centre referee Haimoudi Djamel stop the match for 15 minutes to bring calm to the stadium.
