Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo was born on 4th April, 1962 from the family of Malam Hassan Dankwambo (The first Talba of Gombe). He is a graduate of Accounting from the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University class of 1985 with a Master of science degree in Economics from the University of Lagos class of 1992, post Graduate Diploma in Computer Science in Delta State University, Abraka and a PhD. in Accounting from Igbinedion University. A Fellow and Associate of Six professional bodies and associations which include: Fellow, Institute of Chartered Accountant of Nigeria (FCA); Associate, Nigeria Institute of Managements (ANIM); Fellow, Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (FCTI); Member, Nigeria Economic Society (MNES);Fellow, Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (FCIB); and Fellow, Nigeria Institute of Marketers (FNIM).

Governor Dankwambo attended six International courses in different countries which included: Harvard
University, Boston Massachusetts, USA where he attended a course on Global Financial Systems, Crisis Prospects and Solution. Stanford University, Stanford Business School for a course on Budgeting and Financial Management in the Public Sector just to mention a few.
 

Governor Dankwambo has served in fourteen very sensitive committees which included the following: Protem Executive Secretary; Forum of Accountant – General and Auditor – General in West Africa (FAAGWA). Chairman Review of Financial Regulations and other Financial law in Gombe State. Co-Chairman – Standardization of Federal, State and Local Government accounts in Nigeria, Sub – chairman Review of Syllabus for Bank Examiners Training. As the Accountant – General of the Federation, he has introduced landmark programs towards ensuring accountability, transparency and probity. Amongst them are: He embarked on massive re- organization of the Office to make it more focused, pragmatic and professionally suitable for efficient service delivery.

Though, Governor Dankwambo is on vacation and out of the country but handed over the mantle of leadership to his deputy, Hon. Charles Iliya as mandated by the constitution. Gombe people  joined him in celebrating his 55th birthday as members of his cabinet organized a Dinner under the leadership of the Deputy Governor in order to showcase how important 4th April is to the good people of Gombe State.

The Dinner was attended by the Gombe State Acting Governor, Hon. Charles Iliya, Chief of Staff to the Gombe State Governor, Hon. Ahmed Yayari, members of the Executive council among which are Gombe State Commissioner of Finance, Hon. Malam Hassan Muhammadu, Commissioner for Local Government, Hon. Ahmed Abubakar Walama,
Commissioner of Youth Empowerment, Hon. Malam Faruk Yarma etc. Other people are: Clerk to the Speaker, Gombe State House of Assembly, Chairman Gombe Local Government Area, Hon. Sani Hassan S. Dogarai, Advisers, Senior Special Assistant and Special Assistant and many other dignitaries.

In his opening remarks, the Gombe State Commissioner of Finance, Malam Hassan Muhammadu has congratulated Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, wishing him more blessings. The commissioner also commended Governor Dankwambo for his immense contribution to the development of Gombe State.

In his address, the acting Governor, Hon. Charles Iliya, gave a brief history of Governor Dankwambo and his contributions to the development of Gombe State and Nigeria at large. The acting Governor also congratulated the Governor for clicking 55, wishing him success in the years ahead.
