Many houses have been reportedly destroyed by flood in some communities of Langtang South Local Government Area of Plateau State following a downpour in the area.
Sources from the area told Daily Trust that the downpour, which lasted from Friday to Sunday morning, displaced many residents, leaving many families stranded and seeking refuge.
Yintim Yohanna Nimilam, Community Development Secretary of the Sabon Gida area who spoke to our correspondent lamented the unfortunate development, explaining that several persons have been displaced and properties destroyed. He said “We have been touched significantly by the incident. We appealed to the government at all levels and other relevant agencies to come to our rescue. “
Mr. Nandul Solomon, a resident of Angwan Bwarat in Sabon Gida, also shared his concerns about the flood that devastated his community. He said “Thankfully, no lives were lost, but the massive flood displaced over 80 households. The displaced individuals are currently seeking shelter with neighbours, friends, and relatives. It hasn’t been easy for us. The situation is dire. We are appealing to the government to support those affected by the incident.
