An Abuja based herder, Abubakar Usman, has accused the police from the Karmo division in the FCT of killing one of his sons and injuring two others.

City & Crime learnt that the incident took place last Thursday at the Paipe community, near Karmo town in the FCT.

A witness said the three victims were leading their cattle back home when the incident happened.

While narrating the incident, their father said one out of their animals strayed into a farm owned by a resident simply identified as Lado.

He said the farm owner rushed to the Karmo police division and returned back with five policemen and 10 vigilantes from the community.

He alleged that, “The policemen trailed my children and fired shots toward them, resulting in the death of one of them, Mokawu Abubakar (25).’’

He added that the victim, who was shot around his abdomen, was initially rushed to a nearby clinic, before being taken to the National Hospital in Abuja, where he was pronounced dead by the doctors on duty.

Usman also stated that his two other sons, Ibrahim Abubakar (27), and Bello Abubaka (25) sustained gun on their feet and upper leg.

He said, “The body of the deceased was buried on Friday after obtaining police permission from their FCT command.”

Reacting to the incident, the Emir of Jiwa, Alhaji Musa Idris, said, he had gone to the family of the deceased to condole them and pleaded with them to be peaceful while seeking justice.

When City & Crime visited the FCT police command on Tuesday on the incident, the spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, a Superintendent, was said not to be on seat.

She did not also respond to a message sent to her on WhatsApp on the incident.
