A herder, whose identity is yet to be ascertained, has died after falling from a tree in Gurufufu community in Kuje Area Council of the FCT.

A resident of the community, Bako Hussain, said the incident happened on Tuesday, around 3:12 pm when the deceased climbed a tree to cut down its branches.

He said the herder, alongside one of his sons, were rearing cows near his farm when the deceased climbed a tree to cut part of the tree branches to feed his cows.

He said the deceased suddenly lost step after placing his leg on one of the tree branches and he fell and hit his head on a big stone under the tree.

He said he was working on his farm when the son of the deceased herder ran to informed him that his father has fallen from the top of the tree.

He said, “He abandoned the work he was doing and rushed to the scene where the man was on the ground, bleeding from his mouth and nose with deep cut on his head.” Hussaini said he quickly rushed to inform the deceased’s kinsmen at the camp near the village and some herders came and conveyed him to the hospital in Kwaku village where he was confirmed dead.
