Hey, Mr. President, wake up!
Hey, Mr. President, wake up!

I notice that, people are generally getting the feeling that someone is sleeping and that explains why everything is in reverse mode. I feel the same way too and that is why I took a break from ‘Good People, Great Nation’ to write about this. I actually wrote an appraisal  during the two year anniversary of this administration but could not bring my self to publish it as I was too ashamed of what I penned down when I put it against the background of my earlier stand that the President was just trying to find his feet before we get some action. I remember that one reader then warned me to be careful and temper my optimism with caution, he said “you don’t know Umaru, you will be disappointed because he is never going to wake up, he sleeps all the time”. I know that this man is not suggesting that Mr. President is suffering from ‘sleeping sickness’ he is simply saying that,  it is a case of ‘cannot, will not deliver’, and that to me is scarier than a case of sleeping sickness that we can easily cure with medication!  As much as I prayed that, that man be proved wrong, I know that two whole years is too long a time to look for foot balance and that whatever he has not been able to do now, he will not do after now especially when they are warming up for election.

I am very sad and in pain and on occasions like this I regret my limited vocabulary to describe my feelings. I am also angry with myself because against my better judgment and usual style of wait and see, I convinced myself that our then new President was different. I was mesmerized by his speech on the night he received the GCON award in which he pledged not to disgrace himself and his family because failure  is a disgrace. Two years plus is enough time for any movement (no matter how slow)  to manifest. My worry is that, not only has nothing positive manifested, it appears that we are in a reverse mode. Worst still, everyone except those in government (just a handful of them really), have ‘refused’ to notice, instead, they are parading fake statistics of improvement. Luckily, this President gave us his Seven-Point Agenda as a yardstick to judge him.

Mr. President, your performance in the area of Power and Energy is an abysmal failure! We actually reversed from a position of very little to almost nil therefore, your score is minus 40%. In the area of Food Security and Agriculture, you have only made an impact on television. Please, send your agents around and encourage them to give you honest appraisals, your score is minus 30%.

Not only have you not created Wealth and Employment, Unemployment for lesser souls (except perhaps for your families, friends and cronies), is increasing at an astronomical rate, that is because industries have collapsed from lack of power among several other reasons. Please score yourself.

Mass Transportation is a mirage, the railway, roads, Air, sea, everything is in coma!  Minus 100% also. I must  confess that I have  no idea about any Land Reform, so please feel free to score yourself. On Security: God is our protection otherwise we all would either have been killed or stolen off to be sold in faraway land; that is, if they can get buyers!  You scored minus 100% also.

With your Minister of Education bogeying to the ground on the grave of Qualitative and Functional Education  for our children, I am sure you will not expect any score above minus 100%. Need I say more. Please Mr. President, use your tongue to count your teeth and wake up from your slumber if you can. Oh, God! What we done to deserve this punishment?
