‘High costs, tech barriers limit Nigerians in online trading’

FXTM, a global leader in online trading, has identified high entry costs, technical complexity and lack of structured learning support as some of the challenges Nigerians are facing in trading.

The firm noted that many Nigerians interested in trading are being held back by these complexities.

At a media roundtable in Lagos on Tuesday, Adaeze Uzochukwu, Specialist, Education & Media  at FXTM, explained that FXTM Edge, a new trading account designed by the firm to give Nigerians an easy and innovative way to enter the financial markets.

According to her, FXTM Edge was developed to respond to the challenges many Nigerians face in trading, including high entry costs, technical complexity and lack of structured learning support.

She explained that FXTM Edge is offering Nigerians a simplified platform to participate in global financial markets focused on making forex and commodity trading more accessible and less intimidating.

“Many Nigerians are interested in trading but are held back by complexity, high costs, or lack of experience,” Uzochukwu said.

“FXTM Edge was built to remove those barriers and give everyone a chance to participate in global markets confidently.”

With a minimum deposit requirement of just $50, compared to the $200 previously needed, FXTM Edge lowers the entry threshold for Nigerians looking to trade. The platform also allows micro-lot trading, giving users the flexibility to start small and manage risks effectively.

For beginners, it offers a user-friendly interface, built-in educational resources, and trade inspiration to help build confidence step by step.

For experienced traders, the platform delivers competitive spreads starting from 1.2, a reward system that covers both lots and units traded, and the option to test strategies at lower cost.

Uzochukwu emphasized that the platform was designed with Nigerians in mind, particularly given the reliance on smartphones for financial activities.

She said, “By prioritizing a mobile- first experience, FXTM Edge provides speed, convenience and flexibility to traders who want to operate seamlessly while on the move.

“FXTM Edge is more than just a trading account; it is a gateway for Nigerians to enter the financial markets with confidence.”

Backed by FXTM’s reputation as one of the world’s leading online trading providers, the new platform is expected to encourage broader participation of Nigerians in global financial markets by combining affordability, education, and innovation in a single solution.
