Knowing that Hillary Clinton has had her political curtain drawn by the Trump machine and the US electoral college, this is the time to re-visit the woman who would have been the first female American President. She won the popular vote but lost the electoral college vote to a man who ordinarily will not win against her. But let’s be clear, many Americans voted for Trump and of this number, 42% were women. It’s not enough to say racists, white middle class Americans, misogynists, kuklux klan members voted for him. Americans voted for Trump in as equal measure as Clinton. She did not get as many popular votes as Al gore got over Bush, who still lost the election in year 2000. I am surprised to see Americans protesting. Really? Let it be known that Trump will be the next President of the United States of America no matter whose ox is gored. The world will watch to see what he does with the mandate. All eyes have moved away from Hillary Clinton, but she really ought to be focused on. A woman who dared to dream, who nearly made history. A woman who fought hard and has been at it for eight years; Madam Secretary of State and wife of a former President of the United States. No matter what is said, Hillary Clinton will be regarded as the first American female to push so hard until she became a Presidential candidate. That can never be taken away from her.
In honour of Hillary Clinton’s journey and her tenacity to push against a demagogue like Trump. Here then is the inspirational collection for Hillary Clinton.
1) Failing forward. Turning mistakes into stepping stones for success by John Maxwell: This is an incredibly well written book by the guru of inspirational books, John Maxwell. This is a book Hillary really needs. There were mistakes, there were places she took for granted and those states came back to hunt her. This book will speak to Hillary and inspire others who have failed in their ambition or in their desires. John Maxwell opines that the major difference between achieving people and average people is their perception of and response to failure. He takes a closer look at failure and reveals that the secret of moving beyond failure is to use it as a lesson and a stepping stone.
2) Battlefield of the mind. Winning the battle in your mind by Joyce Meyer: This is a book that addresses worry, doubt, confusion, anger, despair and depression. Meyer shares the tragedies, trials and ultimate victories from her own marriage, family and ministry that led her to wondrous and life transforming truth. A true guide for all those in doubt and a bit confused like Hillary. A truly inspiring book.
3) Hard choices by Hillary Rodham Clinton: I read this book in two days. This tells you the story of Hillary, her life, her decisions and her journeys. “All of us face hard choices in our lives,” Hillary Rodham Clinton writes at the start of this personal chronicle of years at the centre of world events. “Life is about making such choices. Our choices and how we handle them shape the people we become”. This is a book by Hillary about Hillary. Insights, moments and her run with President Obama for the presidency and how she became Secretary of State. Time to look back and see who this woman who ran with Trump is and what makes her tick. A good book to read at this time in Hillary’s own words.
4) The unique voice of Hillary Rodham Clinton: A portrait in her own words: As one of the most controversial figures of our time, Hillary Rodham Clinton has incited both great love and rage from the general populace. This book provides an intimate look at this dynamic First Lady, revealing in her own words, her thoughts on current issues, family values, life in the White House, and her marriage.
5) Any book by Malcolm Gladwell to study the mind of brilliant persons like Hillary Rodham Clinton who are ambitious.
