The Kano State Hisbah Board has intercepted a vehicle loaded with over 24,000 bottles of beer on BUK Road, adjacent to the Aminu Kano College of Islamic and Legal Studies.

The Deputy Commander General of the board, Dr Mujaheed Aminudden, who made the disclosure to newsmen on Tuesday, said that a truckload of beer was intercepted on Monday afternoon.

Dr Mujaheed said that the law establishing the Kano State Hisbah Board prohibited the sale and consumption of beer and other intoxicants in the state.

He further said the agency had also intensified campaign and advocacy visits to enlighten the public about the dangers of engaging in immoral activities.

Mujaheed commended the KAROTA personnel on duty for their effort in intercepting the truck before it reached its final destination in the metropolis.

He added that the board had vowed to remain focused in the fight against smuggling of beer into the state.

He further said, “The driver of the vehicle ran away, leaving the vehicle. And we used a towing van to convey the vehicle to our headquarters.”

Abubakar urged the residents to report any vehicle carrying suspected items to the board.
