A suspected hit-and-run motorist has knocked down a pedestrian feared to be an insane man in Gwarinpa. 

A police source said the deceased was trying to cross the road on Third Avenue when he was knocked down yesterday morning. 

The source said the motorist escaped.

The Gwarinpa Divisional Police Officer, CSP Nuruddeen Sabo, confirmed the incident. 

He said an unidentified person who is mentally retarded was about to cross the road when he was knocked down by a vehicle. 

“The driver of the car zoomed off and escaped,” he said adding that officials from the Motor Traffic Department took the corpse to the Kubwa General Hospital.  

He said investigation was ongoing.
