Kano State Agency for the Control of Aids (KSACA) in collaboration with Saving One Million Lives for result (soml PforR) has trained additional 40 female health workers on the prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV/AIDS in the state.

A statement signed by the agency’s Public Relations Officer, Usman Gwadabe indicated that the participants were trained in various techniques aimed at halting the spread of HIV virus through screening of pregnant women, as well as putting infected ones on medication.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the 3-day intensive training of the health workers,  KSACA Director General, Dr Bashir Usman said the capacity building program would save next generations from infection with the virus.

He said ‘’support and caring during pregnancy, delivery and breastfeeding are part of global crusade against the virus”

Dr. Usman urged the participants to train their colleagues in order to sustain the programme, emphasizing that refusal would deprived people from getting appropriate care.

One of the participants, from Jido Health Clinic  Dawakin Kudu, Binta Dambo assured that they would impart the knowledge to other colleagues for wider elimination of the virus in the society before the 2030 target.
