The first winner is Asaba, Delta State-based Gabriel Mokogwu, a businessman who deals in Kitchen utensils.
He won a three-bedroom flat worth N12 million located in a 120-unit Gold Estate, Ishefun, Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State.
Presenting the house keys to the winner, Kelvin Otung, the Managing Director/CEO, Home Lottery Limited said this is the company’s own way of intervening to solve the huge housing crisis in Nigeria.
“This is part of our response to bridge the housing deficit in Nigeria. Statistics show that Nigeria needs 820,000 units of housing annually at N69 trillion. This is too huge for the government to bear,” Otung said.
“We are giving Nigerians opportunity to own their homes, cheaply and through a transparent lottery,” Otung said adding that when you win, there is no additional financial commitment from the winner.
“We started to one house per week, we will move to three houses per week, and seven houses per week.
“Our aim is to hit 1000 houses per annum. We have estates in other areas like Lekki and Abuja and some units there would also be won,” he said.
According to him, all a prospective winner needs do is “buy the scratch card of N250 at our outlets and play online. You can also download our mobile app and play through it.”
The winner said, “It’s awesome I won. I bought two tickets of N250 each. So I played only twice on the 30th of May, 2015.
“I was browsing through the internet and I saw a lottery promo prop up. I followed the link and after some background check to be sure they are not scammers, I played,” he explained.
