Home ownership scheme: Lagos alerts public to fraud

In a statement jointly signed by the State Attorney General, Mr Ade Ipaye and the Commissioner for Housing, Mr Bosun Jeje, government said the fraudsters provide false information purporting to emanate from government and request payment to certain banks.
The statement reads in part:  “They have also sent out agents to sell printed forms to innocent members of the public who seek allocation of flats under the Lagos HOMS programme,” adding that the information, invitation and demands do not emanate from the state government.
The government urged members of the public to report any person or persons making such demands to the nearest police station or law enforcement agency.
Government assures all citizens that full details of the Lagos Homs programme will be presented and widely publicised at the appropriate time.
