The Nigeria Integrity Film Awards (HomeVida) has called on young Nigerians to enter for the 2017 short script competition.

The partnership administrator, Samuel Umejiaku said that with the support of Google they are looking for young innovative and creative script writers that can create a balance between telling an entertaining story while conveying the message without boring the audience.

According to Samuel they are expected to work on the theme: ‘Counter hate and terrorism/radicalization speeches’. He explained that Google wants to use the digital platform to “promote unity growth and tell our story in a positive way.”

In addition Samuel said they are also working with USAID/SACE and are receiving entries for short script on the theme “Transparency, Accountability and good governance (TAGG)”.  He explained that “our mission is to get the youth to be really involved in governance and not to just criticize but also to applaud when necessary”.

The competition is opened for Nigerians between the ages of 16 to 30 years of age and will be closed by the third of August.

Samuel said participants are expected to go to the homevida’s website and submit a script for a 15-20 minute short film on any of the themes.

The thirty shortlisted candidates will have a one week training by industry veterans at Pan Atlantic university, Lagos and the winners will each take home a cash prize of N250,000.
