The family of Wamban Faskari, Hon Hamza Suleiman Faskari will forever remained grateful to Daura emirate following the conferment of a traditional tittle of Sadaukin Kasar Huasa 1 on him by His Highness, the Emir of Daura Dr. Umar Farouq Umar.

In the history of Daura emirate, Hon. Faskari is the first person to be turbaned with the title. As the name of the title implies, Sadauki literally means a warrior. In the past, the title only conferred on someone who distinguished himself as a warrior among his peers.

However, in recent days, the title is being conferred on a committed person that always devotes his resources and energy for the well-being of his people. Apparently, this is what the emir of Daura identified in Faskari, hence, conferred the title on him.

Hon. Faskari’s unrelenting community service, philanthropic achievements, political and administrative prowess had earned him the traditional title of Wamban Faskari and now Sadaukin Kasar Hausa 1.

An administrator, politician, businessman and philanthropist, Faskari’s philanthropic services cut across various sectors including traditional/religious, health, water supply, empowerment and education amongst many others.

For instance, Faskari has sponsored scores of his family members, friends and associates to perform annual pilgrimages; constructed/rehabilitated over 10 Jummu’at Mosques; financial support for the construction and upgrading of several community mosques and Islamiyyah schools within and outside the state; annual supports to orphans, orphanages and provision of over 1,000 bags of assorted grains as Ramadan palliatives to the less privileged families across Funtua Zone and beyond.

Consequently, he offered cash and material assistance to traditional and religious leaders during festivities and provided logistic support (vehicles and motorcycles) to religious leaders to ease preaching and Da’awa across Funtua Zone and beyond. These philanthropic gestures have been going on from 2012 to date.

The new Sadaukin Kasar Hausa 1 also donated vehicles to several family members, friends and political associates and empowered scores of youth and women on various skills training trades on quarterly basis with a view to supporting their livelihood. This is besides the monthly cash assistance to over 100 community based organisations across Funtua senatorial zone and other zones of the state in order to boost their economic activities and all these gestures have been going on from 2013 to date.

Also, his periodic provision of learning and teaching materials to various primary and secondary schools across Faskari and Sabuwa LGAs, sponsorship of over 100 students of tertiary institutions across the state and sponsoring of over 40 students in various tertiary institutions outside Katsina state have made significant improvement in the education sub-sector in the funtua zone in particular and Katsina state in general. This program has been on since 2011. Faskari’s Final Year Project Support Allowance scheme has greatly helped hundreds of final year students of tertiary institutions from Faskari and Sabuwa LGAs.

In the Health Sector, Sadakin Kasar Hausa 1 has made significant impacts on the lives of the less privileged in Faskari and Sabuwa LGAs through rehabilitation of several health facilities, provision of medical equipment, facilities, vehicles and drugs to Faskari Maternal and Child Health Centres, Kanon Haki, Nasarawa and Bele Health Clinics in Faskari LGA. This was in addition to his support medical outreach services and medical support to over 800 health challenged persons within Faskari, Sabuwa LGAs and several other communities across the state.

Hon. Faskari joined the Federal Civil Service in the year 2009 as Administrative Officer in-charge of South-East Zone, State Coordination Department of the Federal Character Commission. In 2011 he was appointed as Special Assistant to the Senate Deputy Minority Whip, Senator Abu Ibrahim, National Assembly, Abuja.

A generous in nature, Hon. Faskari used this opportunity to help his people in various ways. However, his name became the most pronounced within the entire Funtua Senatorial District largely due to his commitment and contributions in the formation of several political organisations. His network of political allies, associates and friends cuts across the entire Katsina State and the North-West Zone.

It was in recognition of his academic resourcefulness, community service and political contributions at Local Government, State and Federal levels that the immediate past Governor of Katsina state, Rt. Hon. Aminu Bello Masari, appointed him as commissioner of Environment, Katsina State in 2015. He was re-appointed and re-deployed to the same ministry in 2019 in view of his outstanding performance in the first tenure.

Consequently, when governor Radda assumed office, he re-appointed Faskari as commissioner of Water Resources, later re-deployed to the Ministry of Environment in view of the need to sustain the efforts he earlier facilitated. This makes him the longest serving commissioner of environment since the creation of the ministry in Katsina State.

Wamban Faskari as fondly called by his colleagues was born to the respected family of late Alhaji Sulen-Sule Faskari and Hajiya Ruqayya. Like many children in northern Nigeria, little Hamza started Qur’anic education at his tender age.

Faskari obtained a first degree in History from the prestigious Bayero University, Kano in 2004 and Master’s Degree in Public Policy and Administration from his alma mater in 2008. Sadaukin Kasar Hausa 1 is currently a candidate for Professional Doctorate Degree in Environmental Policy and Governance at the Federal University Dutsinma, Katsina State.

One of his political associates, Alhaji Isma’il Muhammad Na’Abba, described Faskari as humble, trusted, generous and humane associate, saying “Hon. Faskari is a kind of person that is naturally generous and dependable. His generosity has no boundary because he can offer assistance to whoever comes his way.

“His political antecedents can prove his generosity and commitment towards improving the well-being of the less privileged people in Katsina state and beyond. The gentleman has assisted hundreds of people from within and outside Katsina state. Faskari is a kind of person whom would be remembered by many for his generosity.

“The conferment of Sadaukin Kasar Hausa 1 on him did not surprise me because the man deserves more than a title considering his contributions to humanity. The new Sadaukin Kasar Hausa 1 should expect more of such gesture from within and outside Katsina state because humanitarian services is capable of earning someone more than a tittle. I am happy Faskari’s service to humanity is not only recognized but rewarded by Daura emirate.”
