We condemn in strong terms the public utterances of Hon. Abubakar Lado Suleja, representing Gurara/Tafa/Suleja in the House of Reps and any National Assembly member who insinuates that the COVID-19 measures adopted are misplacement of priorities and treachery on the part of government, both national and state.

Lado is alleged to have said the National Assembly members were coerced into ceding their two months salary for COVID-19.

If private organisations will be making a lot of contributions to the governments, for any National Assembly member to publicly make a statement, that they are forced to forfeit their two months salaries in the midst of this calamity is the highest level of irresponsibility. People with such parochial minds are not qualified as National leaders.

We call on the National Assembly leadership to call him to order. At the same time we call on the National Assembly to exclude him from the two months salaries deduction, we don’t need his, let him keep his money.

As committed and responsible citizens of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Buhari Support Organisation (BSO), Niger State Chapter, salutes the efforts of our President and our state governor on the steps and measures taken to contain the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic not only in Niger State but the entire country.

We are watching the situation globally as the COVID-19 pandemic ravages nations. We are very mindful of the fact that as painful as they are, if such measures of restricting movements were not adopted, the situation in our communities nationwide will be worst than what is now unfolding in countries with more technology and advanced healthcare than ours.

We also salute all various multinational and local organisations, and well-meaning and resourceful citizens as they made valuable contributions to assist governments both federal and state towards alleviating the sufferings of the less-privileged citizens.

Unfortunately, rather than words of encouragement to our various governments in order to succeed in curbing the spread of the dreaded pandemic, we have National Assembly members condemning these measures, either out of ignorance, mischief or quest for cheap political relevance.
