Hon. Jeph Afam Ogbodo has declared his intention to contest for the Enugu East Senatorial seat under the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), pledging to build on what he described as his record of service, empowerment and inclusive development.

Ogbodo made the declaration in Abuja shortly after obtaining his ADC senatorial nomination form, stating that the people of Enugu are politically aware and capable of making independent electoral choices.

Speaking on the current political realignments across the country, Ogbodo said developments within the political space would not affect his resolve to pursue his ambition on the ADC platform.

According to him, both the ADC and NDC in Enugu State maintain cordial relations and share similar democratic objectives, adding that political cooperation among parties would not diminish the importance of candidates connecting directly with the electorate.

“The era where elections are influenced mainly by wider political sentiments is changing,” Ogbodo stated. “The people are more informed and will support candidates they believe can represent their interests effectively, irrespective of party affiliation.”

He recalled that political trends played significant roles during the last general election, but noted that the dynamics ahead of future elections may differ.

“Our people will continue to assess candidates based on their capacity, accessibility and commitment to public service,” he added.

Ogbodo further outlined his vision for the Senate, promising to maintain close contact with constituents if elected.

“I am not going to Abuja to be distant from my people. I want to remain accessible and committed to the needs of the people at the grassroots,” he said.
