Alhaji Ibrahim, who spoke with our reporter on his bed at the Emergency Ward of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Gusau, requested for prayers from all Nigerian’s in order to overcome his present health challenge.
The District Head of Rijiya said his stomach has started swelling up because of difficulty in urination. He noted that his urine is now full of blood with serious pain.
The traditional ruler said the incident occurred after honouring the invitation of the Zamfara State House of Assembly on issues relating to his domain.
He said after being questioned by four state lawmakers, including Dayyabu Adamu Rijiya, who is an indigene of Rijiya, he was waylaid by hoodlums, led by one Garba Mai-Lena, whom he claimed insulted his parents within the state Assembly Complex.
“I said ‘Garba Mai-Lena, you look at me with my age as an elderly person and a traditional ruler and insult my parents’, but before I finished the statement, Garba Mai-Lena landed a blow on my face which made me to fall on the ground. He and others started kicking me on my stomach and private part. They were saying don’t use any weapon on him to avoid blood on him, just kick and give him blows until he dies. That is all what I remember because I lost consciousness. I just find myself on this bed,” the District Head added.
When contacted, legislator Adamu Rijiya explained that he was not the head of the committee but was invited so as to settle the rift between him and the traditional ruler.
Rijiya said he was informed that the District Head was shown tape recordings of various allegations levelled against him by the people of his district when he was invited by the state House of Assembly penultimate Friday.
The lawmaker, who said that there was nothing like verbal assault between him and the district head when they met last Tuesday, wondered why he went ahead to accuse him of complicity in his travail.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Zamfara State Command Haruna Abdulmalik (DSP) declined comment on the incident.
Sunday Trust, however, learnt that Governor AbdulAziz Abubakar Yari had sent the Commissioners of Health and Special Duties to visit the embattled District Head in the hospital.
