Suspected hoodlums broke into a shop located along Agyana Road in Abaji town, Abaji Area Council of the FCT and stole parts of a grinding machine.
Abuja Metro learned that the incident happened on Tuesday night during a heavy downpour in the area.
A resident and neighbour of the shop owner, Mathew Chukwuma, said the hoodlums chose the time of heavy rain to break open the shop’s protector.
He said that after breaking the iron protector, the hoodlums forced their way into the shop and removed several valuable items, including a small grinding engine and engine parts.
According to Chukwuma, the owner had traveled to a market in the eastern part of the country, only to return and find his shop burgled.
He added that the incident was reported to security operatives in the area, who later came in the morning to take inventory of the stolen items.
The police in the area confirmed the incident, but the spokesperson of the FCT police command, SP Josephine Adeh, could not be reached for comment.
