Scores of suspected political thugs and hoodlums yesterday invaded the premises of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), ldofian in Kwara state.
It was learnt that the hoodlums who arrived the station by buses from llorin got there during the weekly programme sponsored by the state chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
The state Commissioner of police, Alhaji Lawan Ado while speaking on the matter said the command swung into action immediately after receiving a distress call on the arrival of the hoodlums at the station.
He said the suspected political thugs took to their heels before the arrival of policemen to the station.
The spokesperson of the state police command, Ajayi Okasanmi said no violence took place at the premises of the station as the hoodlums ran away before the arrival of policemen.
He said the command is still investigating those behind the incident and keeping vigil on the station to endure safety of life’s and property.
The state publicity Secretary of PDP, Rex Olawoye while speaking on the incident said the suspected hoodlums were after him and other PDP members participating in the weekly programme.
Olawoye said the suspected hoodlums fired several gunshots and ran away before the arrival of policemen.
The PDP spokesperson said the one hour programme went on air unhindered without fracas or anybody sustaining any injury.
