Hoodlums suspected to be  armed robbers on Saturday attacked  students of the  Federal University, Lokoja in their off-campus hostel, injuring two of them.

City & Crime gathered that the hoodlums struck at the 15 -block of one bedroom flat  private  students’ hostel at the  back of Honey Gold Hotel  in  Bassa village at  Felele- Lokoja  around 3am.

The robbers, in their numbers, were  said to have invaded the hostel with dangerous weapons, including cutlasses, axes and rods to attack the students.

The hoodlums reportedly collected the students’ money and  carted away their  cellphones,  jewelries and other valuables.

According to a victim, Funke Adewoye, in the Social Sciences Faculty of the institution, the hooligans raided three flats for almost two hours without hindrances.

“Those hoodlums who attacked us are many.  They divided themselves into three groups, each group to a flat.

‘’They harassed, beat and took away everything on us- money, cellphone and jewelry. Some students who put up resistance were inflicted with critical injuries.

“Two of the students received deep cut on their hands and back for delaying to hand over their money and phone to them,” she said.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO, SP Williams Aya, did not respond to text message sent to him on the incident.
