A driver in Minna, Niger State capital, identified as Mohammed, aka Amore, has been stabbed to death by suspected Sara-Suka gang members in the Fadikpe area of Minna.

Mohammed was reportedly trailed and killed around 10pm on Sunday at his residence in Fadikpe.

One of the residents told Daily Trust that the deceased was well known for his efforts in promoting peace within the community.

“It was in line with this commitment that he, along with other vigilante members, went to disperse a gang of hoodlums who had gathered near his residence and were posing a threat to the community. During the operation, one of the thugs stabbed him with a pair of scissors, which led to his death,” the resident said.

The spokesperson for the Niger State Police Command, SP Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the incident.

He said “On 20th April 2025, at about 10.45 pm., information was received from a vigilante leader in the Fadikpe area of Minna that some miscreants were sighted around the Rafi area of Fadikpe smoking cannabis.

“As a result of this, the vigilante members mobilised to the area to effect arrest pending the arrival of the police, while one Mohammed Abo’ore, a community member, volunteered to assist the vigilante men in the arrest.

“Unfortunately, in the process of getting one of the miscreants arrested, Abo’ore was stabbed with scissors by one Nura Buhari and escaped. The victim was rushed to General Hospital, Minna where he gave up the ghost.”

Abiodun added that one of the miscreants, Abdullahi Rabiu, had been arrested and was under investigation, assisting the police with further information.
