The National Coordinator of the Nigeria Horse Racing Federation, Abubakar Dangi Mustapha, has lauded the role of the media in promoting and raising awareness of horse racing across Nigeria.
Speaking after receiving an award at the NTA Sports 24 Awards and Celebration Night, Mustapha described the recognition as a reflection of the crucial support the press provides in amplifying the sport’s visibility.
“With the support of the media, especially NTA Sports 24, horse racing is beginning to get the mileage it deserves. This recognition encourages us to do even more to take the sport to the next level,” Mustapha said.
He emphasised that consistent media coverage has been instrumental in bringing horse racing to a wider audience, educating fans, and inspiring participation at both grassroots and professional levels.
According to Mustapha, the partnership between the federation and media outlets like NTA Sports 24 has helped create greater awareness of structured competitions, youth engagement programmes, and the cultural significance of horse racing in Nigeria.
He added that the press has played a key role in highlighting achievements, successes, and milestones, which encourages stakeholders to invest in and support the sport.
Mustapha also assured that the federation remains committed to leveraging media platforms to further develop horse racing, create opportunities for young talents, and strengthen the sport’s sustainability.
“We will continue to work closely with the media to ensure horse racing reaches more Nigerians and maintains its place as a major sporting and cultural attraction,” he said.
