Hotel proprietors in the country under the platform of Nigeria Hotels Association have complained that the inter-state travel ban imposed by the federal government to contain the spread of COVID-19 has crippled their businesses.
The National President of the association, Eze Patrick Anyanwu, who spoke a press conference in Bauchi yesterday, said they had recorded huge losses since the imposition of the travel ban, adding that 95 per cent of their customers were travelers from other states. He lamented that many hotels had now resorted to borrowing money from banks for maintenance and payment of staff salaries.
Anyanwu said hotels contribute immensely to national development, especially through provision of jobs and urged the federal government to include them among beneficiaries of the COVID-19 palliatives to save the industry from collapse.
