The police of Zone 5, Benin City, Edo State, have arrested a hotel worker, Peter Osayemwere (34), for attempting to rape and kill an 18-year-old woman, Elimian Iziegbe Success, on November 26, 2022.

The Zone 5 spokesperson, Tijani Momoh, told newsmen that the suspect deceived his victim in the course of her searching for a job searching that he was the Manager of Federica Hotel, located at the Gapiona area of GRA, Benin.

He said, “The victim received an SMS on November 25, inviting her for a job interview on November 26, with instructions to wear a black skirt and a white shirt. But on getting to the hotel, she was surprised when the suspect asked her to come to his hotel room on the first floor of the three-story hotel for the interview.

“On getting to the room, the suspect started making sexual advances at her, and when she resisted, he tried to force himself on her, closing her mouth with his hands to prevent her from shouting, and further inserted her head into a full bucket of water in an attempt to kill her.”

He further said that in the course of attempting to rape and kill her, the victim sustained several injuries on her head and other parts of her body, adding that the victim had since been receiving treatment at the Police Cottage Hospital, as well as the Specialist Hospital, Benin.
