House wife arraigned over N2.5m fraud

A house wife, Zainab Muhammad of Unguwar Dabai has been arraigned before a magistrate court no 16 of No Man’s Land, Kano for alleged N2.5m fraud.

The Prosecution officer, Inspector Sani Musa told the court that one Aisha Ali of Kofar-Waika in Kano metropolis reported to the police station that on 5th April 2018, the accused introduced a fuel business to her and she invested N2.5m in the business.

After the accused collected the money, she issued a receipt to the complainant in respect as evidence of payment of the money.

“Also in the month of June 2018, you (Zaynab) deceived the complainant and retrieved the receipt from her with promise to pay the money but you held the receipt and refused to pay the money as well,” he told the court.

The accused person pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of criminal breach of trust and cheating contrary to Sections 311 and 320 of the Penal Code Law.

In view of her plea, the presiding judge, Senior Magistrate Ibrahim Khalil Mahmood adjourned the case to January 21, 2019 for hearing.
